“Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings in Ukraine” program has been extended
We are pleased to share great news with our community partners. The Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine has announced the launch of the 3rd phase of project selection under the Financial Agreement “Energy Efficiency in Public Buildings in Ukraine” between Ukraine and the European Investment Bank (EIB).
What does the program involve?
The program aims to finance thermal renovation, repair war-damaged buildings, and implement renewable energy sources in public buildings across Ukraine. Funding is provided through cooperation with the EIB and supported by grants from the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environment Partnership (E5P) and the EU Neighbourhood Investment Platform (NIP).
The program was launched in 2023. According to the results of the first stage, the communities of Kovel and Novoyavorivsk were the first to complete the process.
Following the second round of project submissions, 24 communities have been selected with 42 projects aimed at restoring and modernizing their facilities to meet energy efficiency standards.
“We urge local authorities to actively submit their project proposals and take an important step toward energy-efficient modernization. In recent years, the energy efficiency of public infrastructure and the energy independence of our country have become key factors in our success. Ukraine is steadily moving toward a consistent state policy where all restored and new facilities must comply with the highest energy efficiency standards. We fully support this approach. Moreover, our experience in joint projects with various cities and communities demonstrates that local governments are ready to restore damaged buildings with energy efficiency principles in mind,” said Yehor Stefanovych, Chairman of the Board of the Public Union UFEES.
